Master Course (CdLS) “European Union Government and International Politics”

2009-2010

MEDITERRANEAN POLITICS

Prof.ssa Stefania Panebianco - stefapnb@unict.it

This course has a seminar format; therefore, class attendance is strongly recommended. Students are required to actively participate in the debate on all modules, illustrate in class (possibly with a power-point presentation) two titles of the reading list, and write a paper of approximately 6000 words.  The final evaluation will take into account participation in the debate, the oral presentation and the final written paper.

- Module 1 is conceived as a compulsory introduction, therefore students are required to read all the related papers and to comment them during the class discussion. These readings will also be discussed  during the oral presentations.

- Students will present in class the content of Modules 2, 3 and 4; the presentations' calendar will be planned during the course.

- The written paper deals with a specific topic dealt by either Module 2, 3 or 4 and draws from the readings listed below as ''further readings"; it has to be delivered at least two weeks before the exam-registration date.

Students who are not able to attend classes, have to prepare one power-point presentation dealing with two of the readings suggested for Modules 2, 3 or 4. The content of Module 1 will be object of an oral exam. The final paper deals with a topic of the Modules which are not covered by the power-point presentation.
